Talker Tales: An AAC Documentary Screening
Talker Tales: An AAC Documentary Screening
Monday, January 26, 2026 (5:30 PM - 7:00 PM) (EST)
Description
Join us for a documentary screening that highlights the power of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and the people who use it.
Every connection begins with communication.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is used by individuals with complex communication needs when spoken language is not always an effective or reliable option. AAC can support, supplement, or replace speech and includes a wide range of tools—from picture symbols and gestures to speech-generating devices.
This in-person screening marks the early 2026 premiere of a 14-minute mini-documentary produced by The Guild for Human Services. The film follows five individuals who use AAC, alongside other forms of communication, as they navigate school, work, hobbies, relationships, and community life.
Through these stories, the documentary highlights a simple but essential truth: communication is a basic human right. Language exists on a spectrum, and everyone deserves access to the tools, supports, and partners that make meaningful communication possible.
Following the screening, attendees will be invited to participate in a brief facilitated discussion and community conversation focused on AAC, inclusion, and listening to lived experience.
This event is free and open to the community. An optional donation helps support AAC education, access, and advocacy.
