NH legislators are moving through over 1,000 bills this session, many of which could help, or hurt, Granite State businesses. BIA is advocating for or against scores of bills related to workforce development, housing and overreaching regulations that could drive up the cost of doing business, particularly those targeting landfills and waste streams. Many other bills could impact the future of energy in the state, labor costs, data privacy and more. Much like last session, the almost evenly divided House makes for heated committee debates and more bills advancing “without recommendation,” something rarely seen before. Once again, whether a bill passes or fails has less to do with its merits and more to do with who has the majority when the vote is taken.
