Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial management and non-profit accounting. As the Accountant, you will be responsible for the organization’s financial organization and supporting the Executive Director in strategic planning. This role involves managing all aspects of accounting department, including financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for providing data to support of all financial reports including departmental budgets, balance sheets, and income statements
  • Maintain the company’s financial and accounting documentation
  • Prepare disbursements checks
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Prepare and post General Journal and adjusting entries to the accounts
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
  • Complete annual financial audit in conjunction with outside audit firm
  • Maintain donor and grant financial documentation and compliance
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of the following: Cash Management, Debt Service, Accounts Payable ledger, Accounts Receivable ledger, Box Office Receipts, Development Receipts, and Show/Event Settlements

Office Management:

  • Process company payroll on a biweekly basis
  • Provide data to support financial reports and documents for the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee
  • Provide financial documentation for the annual report
  • Monitor Internal Controls throughout the organization
  • Implement recommendations resulting from the annual financial audit

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks required
  • Experience in an accounting environment; non-profit experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; analytical skills
  • Must possess a clear understanding of accounting and financial principles and practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office a plus

Physical Requirements

  • The role typically requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended periods, as most of the work involves using a computer, reviewing documents, and attending meetings
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers is necessary for typing, using a mouse, handling documents, and using other office equipment
  • Clear vision is needed for reading financial documents, spreadsheets, reports, and computer screens
  • Occasional walking or standing, such as moving between meetings or attending events
  • Occasional lift and carry light office items, 10-20 pounds.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000, based on relevant level of experience. Eligible for benefits package including health, dental, flexible spending accounts, Simple IRA, and life insurance.
