Facilities Manager
Associated Grocers of New England is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager to oversee the total maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, structures, systems, buildings, and grounds, including the distribution center, office, garage, and lots. This role is responsible for developing departmental priorities, standards, and procedures, preparing operational and financial reports, and ensuring exceptional customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a preventive maintenance program within an annual budget, covering HVAC, buildings, and equipment.
- Supervise and manage building and equipment maintenance employees, including hiring, training, coaching, and discipline.
- Prepare and maintain an annual budget for maintenance supplies, utilities, and operating expenses.
- Collaborate with the Risk Management Department to coordinate fire evacuation and disaster response plans.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal programs and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Plan, budget, and schedule facility modifications, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
- Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors for equipment, materials, services, and related costs.
- Provide guidance to warehouse management on facility and equipment operations for safety and efficiency.
- Review and analyze financial and operational data to prepare reports for senior management.
- Oversee capital project accounts, track progress, and prepare expenditure reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce wasteful practices.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in building maintenance or professional trade management.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems (e.g., fire suppression, HVAC, ammonia refrigeration).
- Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with building codes, OSHA regulations, MSDS, and PSM programs.
- Strong supervisory, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze complex problems, and implement creative solutions.
- Proficiency in financial/business analysis and the preparation of comprehensive reports.
- Experience with staff hiring procedures and employee performance management.
- Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and grievance procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NH licensed electrician or NH Master licensed plumber.
- Experience with CAD programs.
- Level 5 Hazmat skills.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and loud noises.
- Moderate physical effort, including lifting, crouching, walking, and standing.
- Limited exposure to physical risk.
