Primary Purpose
To perform a wide variety of services to assist in the care of residents, their quarters, recreational and work activities. Assist residents to attain and maintain the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial wellbeing as determined by resident assessments and individual plan of care.

1. Prepare residents for meals, distributes and collect food trays, feed and hydrate residents.
2. Perform personal care skills as indicated on individualized patient care plan per facility protocol and policies that meet the -standard of care that is established by Merrimack County Nursing Home and the NH Board of Nursing to promote residents quality of life.
3. Assist residents with ambulating and movement including range of motion, turning and positioning.
4. Provide needed assistance in getting residents to and participating in activities, family gatherings and other social events.
5. Assist residents to attain and maintain functional independence, allowing resident to make personal choices to accommodate their needs.
6. Provide privacy, emotional support and preserving resident's dignity, rights and confidentiality as indicated in Resident's Rights set forth by OBRA.
7. Promote the resident's right to be free from abuse, mistreatment and neglect. Report any instances of such inappropriate maltreatment to appropriate facility staff immediately.
8. Function in emergency situations, including abdominal thrusts, appropriateness of action or non-action, fire drills, and security of the environment.
9. Supervise residents during activities.
10. Answer call lights.
11. Report conditions of residents, accidents, and any other pertinent information.
12. Regular attendance is required.

Required Education & Experience
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent, completion of 100 hour approved program for Nursing Assistants, and passing score on competency evaluation program approved by the NH Board of Nursing or any combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a current license in the State of New Hampshire as a Licensed Nursing Assistant.

2. Maintain clean and efficient work environment to prevent the spread of disease. Adhere to fire, safety and infection control regulation of the facility.
3. Maintain professional appearance following dress code as determined by facility policy.
4. Be flexible in assignment of various units based on residents’ needs.
5. Perform other similar or related duties as required or directed while working for the welfare and benefit of the residents of the Merrimack County Nursing Home.
