Low-Cost Energy Audits Available for New Hampshire Small Businesses
Deadline Approaching in February 2025
CONCORD, N.H. — The New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) is accepting applications from small businesses throughout New Hampshire for low-cost energy audits. The current application cycle ends in February 2025, offering an opportunity for eligible businesses to identify energy efficiency improvements that reduce operating costs and enhance both productivity and work environment.
Participants in the program can apply to receive a comprehensive energy audit that evaluates potential energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for their facilities. The audit includes an analysis of implementation costs, potential energy and financial savings, and a return-on-investment estimation.
"Energy remains one of the largest and most unpredictable operational expenses for many businesses," said Scott Maslansky, Director of Clean Energy Finance. "CDFA’s energy audit grants offer a practical solution by lowering the upfront cost of an audit and paving the way for businesses to not only reduce and stabilize their energy expenses but also improve operational efficiency and enhance building comfort and safety. More than 45 New Hampshire businesses have already benefited from this program, with many securing substantial USDA grants to implement energy-efficient upgrades and integrate renewable energy solutions.”
The program is funded through the USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant, with CDFA covering 75 percent of the audit costs. Eligible participants are responsible for the remaining 25 percent. CDFA also assists participants in identifying qualified energy auditors and available incentives and financing options to implement recommended upgrades.
Businesses must meet Small Business Administration (SBA) size standards and be located in eligible areas of the state.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but interested parties are encouraged to apply before the February 2025 deadline to take advantage of this round of funding.
